With its black-and-white chequered back, glossy black head and white necklace, the common loon, provincial bird of Ontario, is uncommonly good-looking. This bird walks on water, literally – it can run several hundred metres on a calm lake before getting up the speed to take off. With the help of its very unbird-like solid bones, the Common Loon can dive to depths of 80 metres in search of food. Celebrated on the dollar ‘loonie’ coin and ready to take pride of place at your place, we hope you love this tribute to the Common Loon.
The Common Loon is:
- 11.4 inches high by 15.7 inches wide
- Easily installed with the tap of a hammer (pre-drill hard wood)
- Designed in 1/7-inch Corten® steel to form a beautiful patina of rust that changes with the seasons
- A great gift for a solid, dependable and trusted friend
